.) Prepare for a productive week! Use Sunday evenings to prep yourself for the week! Bake some yummy muffins for a sweet bite when you wake up. Lay out the Monday morning outfit and pack a yummy lunch or even better, make plans with a co-worker, friend or spouse at your favorite sandwich shop! Make time to watch your favorite shows on t.v., relax with a good book or simply go to be early! Whatever you do, end your weekend on a good note and don't forget about the fun memories you made over the weekend!
.) Wake up early! Ha! If you are like me, then this is not an easy task. My most creative time of the day is after the little is tucked into bed *usually with his daddy, which means that I start my brainstorming and design work later in the evening! While this works for ME, it is not the ideal work schedule. I am a night owl at heart and have no problems staying up until the wee hours to get my work done. But when it comes to being productive in the morning, I struggle a bit to get out of bed. If I had it my way, the world would work around my schedule & hours! ;) But since I don't ever see that happening, I am working on going to bed earlier and waking up earlier! It is important to work during the 8-5 hours. This will help you to stay on track with clients and it will make a huge difference when you need to balance work + personal life!
.) Dress & accessorize yourself with style + personality! When you look good, you feel good! Period. Did you do any shopping over the weekend? If so, save a few of your purchases and blend them into your wardrobe.
.) Music!!! Listen to some music! If you are like my husband, then you listen to music 75% of the day! It is a huge stress reliever and studies have proven that listening to music can boost the levels of neurotransmitter dopamine, a brain chemical that can help you focus! Use Pandora or Spotify to create & listen to your own playlists! If you work in a busy office, use headphones, keep the volume low enough to hear if the phone rings or someone calls your name, don't sing out loud & keep the dance moves to a minimum.
.) Fresh air &/or fresh flowers! I am truly blessed to live at the beach & work at home! Anytime of the day, I can step away from my computer and onto a patio that overlooks a pool & the ocean. While that may not be the case for you (sorry!!), it doesn't mean that you can't take a minute to clear your head and breathe in some fresh air. Make time to get outside either before or after a stressful meeting. It will help break up the day and it will help you to refocus your energy! Perhaps you love fresh flowers...I do, but I don't buy them for myself that often. But maybe you visited a farmer's market over the weekend and picked up a bouquet. Bring them with you to work! Heck, call your local florist and send them to yourself!! LOL! Or maybe make it a tradition with your significant other or BFF! You know, selfless giving is also a great stress reliever. So if you are not big on buying something for yourself or you don't have someone who will send them to you, pay it forward and send a bouquet to a friend! Brighten their day and I promise it will brighten yours!
